‘Stilted Growth’ highlights the impact of deforestation by contrasting
mature trees and saplings. Photographs of century-old trees are
printed on Cupcycling 140gsm paper, while sapling photos are on
acetate. The piece emphasises how cutting down mature trees, critical for carbon reduction, is rarely offset by planting young
saplings, which have a far smaller environmental impact. The mature
trees are physically cut out of the photographs, symbolising their removal
from our ecosystems. My 5 handcrafted posters invite viewers to
reflect on humanity’s role in environmental conservation.
